Mining Case Study

Goal:
Over 35 years ago, Western Safety Sign began working with one of North America’s leading Mining Companies. The company had many mining sites across Canada, and therefore wanted to standardize their safety signage across all locations, and to simplify the ordering process. 

Challenge:
With the large volume of signs purchased for the many mining sites across Canada, the challenge was to coordinate and standardize the ordering process to ensure consistency in the signage used across all locations. 

Solution:
Our team worked with the company’s safety professionals to develop a catalog of signs that would meet the needs of all their locations.  The consultative process evolved as sign orders were received to incorporate company design requirements and branding into the signs’ designs.  Our graphic designers created designs to include their company design standards, to simplify designs where necessary, and to add branding where appropriate. 

We negotiated pricing and agreed on a shipping method. For many of the early years, we were able to provide a .PDF catalog of their signs which was sent to the main mining purchasers. As the years progressed, we developed a customer portal on our website where their Sign catalog can be viewed and orders can be placed. 

Ongoing Relationship:
Their Sign catalog has become an essential tool in the Mine’s ordering process providing it with an easy and convenient visual of all the signs they purchase from us. The Sign Catalog is an ongoing work in progress as we continue to work together as new safety sign solutions are required.
